UV printing on tumblers, metal signs and ornaments: what to expect
Last updated October 15, 2026
How UV printing puts a sharp, durable design on stainless steel, tinplate, acrylic, wood and glass, which products we print that way, and how to prepare artwork for a hard surface.
Ink that hardens where it lands
UV printing jets ink directly onto the product and cures it in a fraction of a second under ultraviolet light. The ink hardens where it lands, so your design keeps its edges and color on surfaces fabric printing cannot reach: stainless steel, tinplate, acrylic, wood and glass.
Because the ink sets instantly, fine lines and small text stay clean, and the cured finish is hard and scratch-resistant, ready to use the moment it is made.
The products
- Tumblers and insulated cups: the design wraps the steel.
- Metal signs and license plates: full color on tinplate for a garage, porch or shop.
- Ornaments: acrylic rounds, squares and hearts, and ceramic rounds.
- Phone cases, wall clocks, puzzles and acrylic prints.
Preparing artwork for a hard surface
- On a curved tumbler the editor shows each view; check the seam side as well as the front.
- Use a transparent PNG on metal, steel and acrylic so the material shows around the design.
- Thin light strokes on a dark surface print finer than they look on screen; keep hairlines a little heavier.
